If a child is left-handed by nature, is it advisable to ask him/her to write with right hand? |
|
We have a what is called a "left brain" and a "right brain" i.e the two hemispheres of the brain which is divided by the corpus collosum. Either of these will be dominant, few people are ambi-dexterous which is use both sides for different activities. The left brain/ hemisphere controls the right side of the body and the right brain/ hemisphere controls the left side. Those who are left brained or the left brain is dominant use their right side, in all activities, be it writing or kicking a ball. This comes naturally. Those who are right brained or have a dominant right brain will use the left side. Forcing the child to change dominance can have serious repurcussions. |

agree with shiva - i dont think we shd try to change this natural behavior, the only problem i see is that using the left hand for writing is not considered good for religious / other reasons This is an important issue, I would like to know what everyone thinks about this?

i think we shd have a right answer for this one - its basically a yes or a no.
A lot of people in our generation have this issue - they are basically left-handers but they write with their right hand.
